Are grown without the use of herbicides, pesticides or artificial fertilizers.
The climate determines the quality of the figs. Hot, dry summers produce small sweet figs. Cold and wet summers, on the other hand, have thick-skinned figs with a relatively high sugar content.
The figs from Turkey that are ready harvesting are carefully picked, dried in the open air and sorted by hand.
Sun-dried, Turkish organic figs from a new harvest. Soft, sweet and aromatic with a fine caramel note. Best provenance, very high quality. The variety is also known as the Aegean mountain fig and comes from the region around Aydin. The remote area 150 km southeast of Izmir is considered to be one of the best growing areas for figs in Turkey.
Use
Dried figs are a delicious, quick source of energy. They can also be used in a variety of ways in the kitchen, be it in fruit bread, pastries, cooked in port wine, in orange and fruit salads, etc. Dried figs are good sources of calcium and magnesium.
How is it done
The name “Lerida” refers to the processing of figs. To do this, the dried fruits are lightly flattened for shipping and traditionally packed in baskets or wooden boxes.
