Traditional Italian dessert Tiramisù
Do you know why this fantastic dessert is called Tiramisù?
The word Tiramisù means “pick me up”and it comes from the italian Treviso dialet, “Tireme su”, originated in 1800, for the high energetic content such as eggs and coffee. Tiramisù is claimed as aphrodisiac effects.
It is made of biscuits (savoiardi) dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, mascarpone cheese and flavored with cocoa. The original shape of the cake is round, but you can use a rectangular pan.
Serves 4
Prep. Time = 15 minutes
Ingredients:
300 grams of organic savoiardi biscuits.
3 organic eggs.
250 grams of organic mascarpone cheese.
5 cups of cold coffee.
Organic powdered raw cocoa.
3 tbsp of brown sugar.
How to make it :
1- Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks, and place in separate bowls.
2- Put a spoon of sugar in the egg yolks and with an electric mixer beat until light and frothy.
3- Add the mascarpone and mix well until you get a smooth and foamy cream.
4- Beat the egg whites until very consistent and gradually put 2 tbsp of sugar. Continue beating until very firm.
5- Join with the yolks moisture, mixing everything gently. Put in the fridge.
6- Mix one spoon of the remaining sugar with the cold coffee to soak the biscuits.
7- In a pirex put a layer of the soaked biscuits.
8- Remove the cream from the fridge and cover with a layer of the cream over the biscuits.
9- On top of this put another layer of biscuits and cover again with the cream.
10- Refrigerate at least for 2 hours.
11- Before serving spray the surface with the powdered cocoa.
