Description
Emmer grain is robust and frugal. It is one of the oldest cereal cultures, originally from Asia Minor and is the ancestor of our bread cereals wheat and spelt. From a nutritional point of view, emmer has a higher protein and mineral content than wheat. The minerals in particular should be able to be better broken down by the human organism. Emmer also contains more Iron than wheat.
Although emmer originated in the Middle East, the ancient Romans are also said to have used the grain for cooking and baking. The small seeds are known to be darker and more flavoursome than wheat. In its whole grain form, has a particularly nutty and rich taste.
Ingredients like emmer are good additions to a balanced diet. The healthy grain is particularly well known for its high content of carotenoids which aid good eyesight and protect body cells. As well as this, emmer is rich in nutrients such as magnesium, iron and zinc. All in all, the grain is not just a tasty addition to your diet, but a healthy one too
Best use : for bread, pies, cakes, pasta etc.. You can mix it, with other flours without gluten.
