Pesto Sauce:
Basil is a tasty, leafy green herb that originated in Asia and Africa. It’s a member of the mint family, and popular as food seasoning. This aromatic herb is also used in teas and supplements which provide a range of health benefits. Basil supplies antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties and vitamin K.
Fresh basil has the best flavor!
Pesto is a creamy green sauce, typically made from crushed basil, garlic, parmesan cheese, olive oil and pine nuts. Pesto is typical of Italian cuisine. I made the pasta with Penne Whole Spelt Flour, which has more nutrients and fiber.
Best uses: tomato dishes, salads, zucchini, eggplant, stuffing, soups, sauces and more.
If you have fresh basil, take only the leaves and don’t heat because diminish the flavor and bright green color!
